How does color affect mood?
Long (2011) states “Color has a deep affect on people. It communicates critical information about the world; it is
a source of stimulation and pleasure; it shapes and activates space; and it
holds psychological and cultural associations that facilitate
communication. For the artist and
designer, the wise use of color means much more than simply choosing popular or
“attractive” colors. It means
using color as a powerful tool." Colors affect people differently and visual perception isn't uniform across the population. Visual perception isn't the same universally for a number of reasons, including cultural traditions, psychological conditioning, association trends, social bias, color blindness, and even changes in the eye as people grow (p. 22). Many artists, such as Picasso, intentionally take this information and use in in their artwork to portray a specific mood to the audience.
